Map Concept Designer
Location: Fully Remote
Tiny Wizard is a rapidly expanding game development studio, dedicated to crafting innovative and captivating multiplayer experiences tailored for mobile device users.
We are currently seeking a Level Concept Designer with experience in environment concept art and map design, particularly for shooter games, to join our team and contribute to the development of our exciting new project, "Timeless Rivals" (working title), a fast-paced multiplayer action game.
Responsibilities
Effectively interpret and expand upon the creative vision provided by leadership, ensuring accurate execution while maintaining its core essence.
Design innovative and visually striking map concepts that align with the game's theme, mechanics, and art style.
Produce high-quality concept art for environments, including detailed sketches, color compositions, and thematic layouts to guide the development team.
Collaborate closely with Level Designers to ensure maps effectively incorporate game mechanics and provide engaging, balanced player experiences.
Work iteratively, incorporating feedback from the Level Designer, Art Director, and other stakeholders to refine and perfect map concepts.
Create immersive environments that tell a story, enhancing player engagement through compelling visual designs.
Analyze feedback and testing results to identify areas for improvement and implement changes accordingly.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to ensure our game remains competitive and engaging, particularly in the mobile gaming space.
Partner with artists, designers, and developers to ensure concepts transition smoothly from design to implementation.
Requirements
At least 3 years of experience in environment concept art or map design, preferably in midcore or shooter games.
Strong portfolio showcasing stunning, detailed concept art for maps, including environments, textures, and props.
Solid understanding of game design principles, mechanics, and systems, with an emphasis on level design and visual storytelling.
Expertise in industry-standard tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, and 3D modeling software (e.g., Blender, Maya). Familiarity with game engines such as Unity is essential.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to overcoming design challenges.
